This book is dedicated by the author to the memory of Tommy, Jimmy, Harry and Eustace (Eusty) Rogers, coracle men of the River Severn whose skill and bravery saved many families from rising flood waters in times before helicopters and modern rescue services. These men and many others like them knew the river, and especially the gorge, better than anyone and have a family history of coracle making stretching back over 250 years of which they can be justly proud. They and their families were highly respected members of the local community. This is their story.
