Townhead in the 70s

Author : Peter Mortimer and Duncan McCallum
ISBN : 9781840336115
Cover : paperback
Price : £9.00

Townhead is the oldest part of Glasgow and is the site of Glasgow Cathedral dedicated to St. Kentigern also known as St Mungo, and Glasgow's oldest remaining house originally constructed as part of the St Nicholas Hospice for the poor. Over the years since the 1960s, much of the area was demolished to make way for multi storey housing, the M8 motorway and the University of Strathclyde with the loss of many iconic buildings. A few of these can still be seen in the photographs contained in this volume.
