This collection of 60 photographs features the City of Dublin from the late nineteenth century to the 1970s. The pictures included every form of wheeled transport imaginable, whilst also providing snapshots of famous city landmarks in years gone by. The story begins with the horse trams and an archaic (and short-lived) double-decker bus which made a fleeting appearance on the streets of Dublin in 1908. It then moves into the bustling inter-war years and the numerous electric trams plying various routes in and around the city to destinations such as Dalkey and Lucan. Several pictures show the buses operated by a growing number of independent companies that sprung up at that time to serve the burgeoning suburbs. Horse-drawn transport was still important however right up to the 1960s and is shown alongside the city rail services and the special buses that used to carry passengers to the airport (not to mention a plane or two!).
