This collection of photographs recalls many aspects of the historic town of Biggar in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Included are the last passenger train to leave the station (on 3 June 1950), one of J. A. Cuthbertson's Water Buffalo all-terrain vehicles, the old Biggar telephone exchange and Queen Elizabeth II's brief visit in 1956. Well-loved landmarks such as Cadger's Brig and views of the High Street are included too, along with groups including Biggar Cycling Club, a local curling team, Biggar Dramatic Club and the Biggar British Legion Pipe Band. Dozens of local faces appear in the book, and wherever possible names have been included in the text. The Hogmanay bonfire, scenes from past Gala Days and pictures of events held for the town's quincentennial celebrations all feature too.
